I’ve just watched four ex-prime ministers and members of both the house of commons and house of Lords. He was taken though the streets of London in a plastic box surrounded by police, that seemed like of a lot of security just keep him away from the children at the side of the road.
When he arrived he used his speech to say “There are those who would advocate that the voice of religion be silenced”.
Not me, I want the whole world to know that this pope described homosexuals as having a “strong tendency ordered toward an intrinsic moral evil”. But there is one topic where he probably should be silenced.
In sub-Saharan Africa (you know the real third world) two million people are doing from AIDS every year, that’s the same rate of death as the Nazi holocaust. This Pope has used his voice to say that condoms help spread the virus. A comment putting on a moral par as a man pointing Jews escaping Hitler in the direction of Auschwitz. So yes on contraception he rally should shut the fuck up.
So why do we listen to this idiot? If I said those things I probably would be allowed into the palace of Westminster so why do the government roll out the red carpet for a person with such backward views? The answer is popularity. The bigotry and ignorance of the pope is some how legitimized by his number of followers. The logic is ‘EAT SHIT, because two billion flies can’t be wrong’.
My question is simply, what’s the limit? How much anti gay hate speech would it take for our government to ignore him despite his many followers? How many child abuse cover ups? Because if we tolerate what he is doing to Africa then what wont we tolerate under the banner of religion?
I was going to use the old phrase “If you tolerate this then your children will be next” but unfortunately they’ve already been molested.
