It was already an interesting week for politics, Tony Blair used his memoirs to attack Gordon Brown, who by now must have so many knives sticking out of his back it impossible for him to get on a plane.   According to waterstones you can ‘buy Blair for £12.50’, Bernie Ecclestone must be kicking himself.  Anyway the Sunday papers made for interesting this week.  Right-wing politics is getting sleazier then Eastender’s.

Lets start with David Cameron’s infamous PR director Andy Coulson who is STILL denying all knowledge of phone hacking at the (Murdoch owned) News of the World, despite being in charge when the newspapers royal editor Clive Goodman was arrested and jailed for hacking into Prince Harry’s mobile phone.  The newspaper has since payed Max Clifford £1million not to take legal action for the same crimes.  Revelations in the New York Times claim that phone hacking was widespread under Coulson and that he knew about it.  So either he’s both broken the law and lied to a police investigation, in which case he probably shouldn’t be working at number 10 or he was totally ignorant of the illegal activities being undertaken by his employees , in which case he probably shouldn’t be working at number 10.  So Andy are you a criminal or an ignoramus?  Make your mind up.  Coincidently this story was not even mentioned in the (Murdoch owned) Sunday Times, i’m sure they’ll get round to it.

But there was something interesting in the Sunday Times?  Remember two years ago during the hight of the MP’s expenses scandal?  We had a European election and a party called UKIP had two very good reason why you should vote for them.  One was that the EU was wasting a lot of taxpayers money and the other was that MP”s had proved themselves to be selfish and corrupt by claiming expenses for things like Duck houses and Moats.  One of the UKIP candidates was called Nikki Sinclair.  Nikki must have forgotten about all the UKIP proppergander because according the Sunday Times she claimed £838 for petrol and a ferry to take her to the European parliament in Strasbourg.  Only problem is, she didn’t drive.  Instead she spent £263 on a flight and pocketed the remaining £575 of our money.  Thankfully the police are investigating.  In the mean time I’ve decided to live up to UKIP standards, so while being strongly against acts of vandalism I can fully support people doing thing like this.

However Nikki might have a contender for hypocrite of the week.  Now normally I would deplore the press if it hounded a man for being gay, but in this case I welcome it.  Yes ex-conservative party leader William Hague has been accused of having an affair with his aide Chris Myers.  The pair can be seen here looking incredibly gay.

Nothing wrong with that, until we remember that William Hague used his time in parliament to vote against legislation giving equal rights to homosexuals.  So if William turned out to be a closet homosexuality it would be brilliant.  William Hague has already spent years leading a shameful double life, but eventually he admitted to being a member of Tory party and his friends and family accepted him.  At the moment this is just media speculation and we have yet to see if the public will swallow it, weather William swallowed it we may never know.  For now we can only ask ourselves why a millionaire stay in the “twinned” room below and not pay for a single.

UKIP’s Nikki Sinclair also checked into the hotel, asking for a room with extreme views.
